My final folie poster, showing the source and influence to the final way in which the design activates and projects images and videos onto the sites natural screen.

The form of my folie came from the idea that the concept needed to express the notion of inter-relationship and connectedness. I believe in this world, that information and ideas should be shared freely for and create a catalyst from one person to another and back and forth. This gave the form an open/skeletal form which was easy transparent to represent openness.
My folie then used the use of technology to project one’s ideas onto the rock face which acted as a screen. The light projected on the rock face also became a beacon downstream to create curiosity and draw people to the site. The projection lights were placed at an angle which along with the film or picture been projected on the rock face, it also projected the folie its self. This represented, that all idea have a source and are connected one way or another to something. As the projection rotates along the rock face, the picture is distorted and altered the way that every individual can interrupt an idea.

These diagrams express my initial ideas, which were influenced by the site. As the site was originally a dock for vessels to provide Brisbane city I wanted my folie to be a place that gives back to the city and its user in some way. The fact that the context comes alive at night, directed me to the path to create a design that would harness the creation of light. As light can act a beacon. It is also symbolic and connected strongly to the idea that light is the source of life and knowledge. My design then took the concept which would incorporate a place in which would enable people to enlighten one another, and thus creating an urban place to interact with one another.

After analysing and researching the site’s history, context and physical properties I developed an understanding for the proposed site. The site is used as a thoroughfare and visible from far down stream. With its ability to be seen from a far I wanted my design to draw and lure people in some way. The site and its surroundings comes to life at night and this also influenced me to create a folie which would activate at night. This diagram also shows the way in which the bridge over head splits the built environments context from high rise buildings to more low set. This gave me the idea to create a design to would vary to a diverse audience where all could come and be joined together.
